Evolving from tax brand for startups to trusted advisor for bigger clients.
Opportunity
After five years, Pennystarter Consulting had outgrown just doing taxes for its startup clients with minimal budgets. More established clients were seeking founder Peter Kim’s consult on a wide variety of business matters. Peter was ready to take his business, and brand, to a higher level of quality in attracting larger clients.
My Role
Led Peter (CEO) through sprint-style strategic session to uncover key objectives for the business and necessary traits for the new brand.
Developed visual identity system and implemented across new company website, blog and marketing materials.
Art directed logo animation with outside vendor.
Maintain and update company website and social media channels.
Solution
We uncovered that the brand would need to stand for partnership above all else, because as a business owner himself, Peter worked with his clients, not for them. He understood their challenges, goals, and systems. Peter even came up with the new brand name ‘Modis Advisors’ (from the Latin word Modis Operandi) as a nod to proven and sustainable processes he uses to work with clients.
The new visual identity system is an approachable, yet professional reboot for Peter’s five year old company and prepares him to take on the next caliber of clients. The consistent look and feel extends across Modis Advisors’ new web, email, and social touchpoints.
